WEEK 1 

FIGURING OUT IDEAS FOR MY DESIGN:

IDEAS:


With the use of raffia strings, I could create a texture that is bulky which is similar to the picture shown above. The design is plain but unique. 


This is an example of a patchy work style. I could use various ropes and colors to create a similar fabric texture.

WEEK 6

Throughout week 6, we had a guest visit, Mr. Dai Fujiwara. He had joined us and gave a talk during this week. He inspired us to create our very own designs with simplicity but with much thought put into it. 



Mr. Dai had given us a talk which included his experience in the industry and how he came to the place he is in today. It was very inspiring. He had also share with us one of his fashion show videos which included a simple transformation design that involved just folding paper tissues that he was inspired by while dining at a restaurant.

On the second day of the workshop, we were separated into a group of 3 and started to design our own garment without any restriction. We were given freedom for our designs that allowed us to venture out in our creativity. 


We started by manipulating the fabric and creating our very own pattern. We wanted to symbolize a very frustrated emotion and just letting it all out hence the name, SCREAM.

In conclusion, during this workshop I learnt that it was difficult to work in a team since everyone has different creative ideas and was difficult to communicate with what each one of us wanted. But in the end, we pulled through. Although the design wasn't perfectly constructed and delivered, I am happy that we got to do this workshop as it has opened up my eyes on what I want to be doing and how to get better.

 INTERCULTURAL DESIGN ACADEMIC BLOG Project 1: PROPOSAL On our first class leture for intercultural design, we held an online meeting. Task 01: GARMENT DRAPING – BASIC TOP

  Draping is a technique used to make a 3-dimensional dress pattern with the aid of a dress form figure by pinning and placing fabric against the form to create a garment. Typically, designers use muslin, which is cost-efficient and offered in a variety of weights.  To start off the project, we started constructing our bust tape with the measurement of 8cm wide and 50cm in length. For this assignment, I used calico. After measuring out the bust tape, I cut it out. Then, ironed the bust tape while folding it into 4 equal parts.  This is how the bust tape looked like after ironing it.  Firstly, we opened up the folds and sewed a straight line down the center then sewed a topstitch 1cm folding both ends. After folding it back, sew a straight line across the center. length wise. The bust tape is then ready to be used. FINAL PROJECT ( WEEK 9 - 14 )

  During week 9, after finalizing our 10 different designs in Introduction to Fashion Design classes, we had sat down and started drafting the patterns for the show in July. We discuss with both lecturers and come up with a reasonable design and simplified one.  LOOK 1 Figure 1  I had come up with a vest design for my top as it would be simple and easy to construct. The main attraction would be the texture that is added to the top.  Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4 I tried to do the pattern pieces for the garment using the drafted patterns, but the design didn't look as what I wanted to show. So, I had decided to wait and ask advice from Ms. Melina during our next class.  Figure 5 Figure 6 Figure 7 Figure 8 I did a test pattern to make sure the fit was right for model size. During that weekend I had cut out the pattern pieces that I had sketched with an allowance of 1.5 cm all around using scrap fabric that I found at home.  At the end of the week, we went for fabric shopping with Ms.Me
