ASSIGNMENT 1 : INTRODUCTION TO LECTRA MODARIS

 WEEK 1

During our first week of class, we did a brief introduction on what we were going to learn for the semester as this subject is very new to us. Then, we were introduced to a programme called Lectra Modaris. Fashion brands can use it to develop patterns and prototypes that are ready for production. By utilizing industry best practices in product development, Modaris guarantees a constant standard of excellence and quality throughout the process.

We were then given a step by step video instruction on how to create a bodice block using the lectra modaris programme and also a basic sleeve. 

WEEK 2 

The instructions were easy to follow but I did a few mistakes and asked for advice from miss and she had helped me throughout the process of fixing my patterns. 

We had also added seam allowences to the pattern pieces.

I had then started my first assignment which we had to produce 2 manipulated variations on the basic bodice or sleeve blocks that we had previously made. 

For my first variation, I had first made a basic bodice as my base and began manipulating it. Curving the bottom of the bodice.  

As for the second variation, I had chosen to use the basic sleeve block. Extended the sleeves and curved the sleeves at the bottom.

WEEK 3

On this week's class, we learnt how to check our pattern pieces by matching it with the coherent pattern pieces. 

Reflection : 

I'm grateful that Dr. Alshaimaa gave clear instructions since they made the learning process go extremely smoothly and amusing. I had a great time learning how to use this software—it's something I've never done before. Utilizing this software to build my design has motivated me to start designing throughout this semester.
