RECYCLING AND UPCYCLING 

Recycling and upcycling can be done by altering and repairing the clothes that we already have. 

RECYCLING


The figure above shows a method of recycling fashion. Bags of potato chips and snack boxes are merged together to create a garment. 
Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into reusable materials. It helps conserve natural resources, reduce pollution, and save energy. Recycling and upcycling fashion has been practiced in today's world as it helps to protect the environment.

UPCYCLING
Upcycling fashion means taking clothing or accessories that are torn, stained, or damaged and converting them into wearable products. 
Upcycling is the process of transforming discarded materials into new products, giving them a new life and reducing waste. It promotes creativity, sustainability, and environmental consciousness.







WEEK 3 RECAP

After finishing my first sample on week 2, I had decided to start on my second sample. This week we were given feedbacks and advice from Mr. JR. He had helped us to come up with various geometrically inspired designs for our fabric manipulation. Towards the end of the class, we were tasked to do a conceptual story write-up (less than 250 words). The write up would include our imagination, concept or theme we are going for in this fabric manipulation.

Garment Creation Technology 1

 GARMENT CREATION TECHNOLOGY 1  ASSIGNMENT 1 During our first week of class, we were briefed on the semesters schedule and flow of all future assignments. Then we started with our first assignment.  For our first assignment, we were tasked with creating a Clo3D version of one of our previous designs. I chose to remake the kids' adaptive clothing design I developed in the previous semester. Top Front Top Back Pants Front Pants Back These were the designs that I chose to transfer to Clo3D. I did make a few adjustments to the design when recreating it in Clo3D as I was unable to replicate the exact design.  As for the top, I removed the snap button detail and also the zip flap. Instead, I made the zip a 2-way zipper on CLO3D. Besides that, there was a box pleat at the back of the top. As I was unable to replicate that detail on CLO3D, I replaced it with a gather stitch to have a similar function for the top, ease movement.  Final outcome:  Front Back Technical...

ASSIGNMENT 01 - INTRODUCTION TO 3D CREATION

 For our first assignment, we were tasked to complete 3 complete outfit variations using CLO3D.  1st Variation:  Basic bodice block and skirt. For this design, I had drafted a pattern for a basic bodice and skirt following the guidance of Dr.Alshaima. After drafting the basic bodice on the 2D pattern, I continued to simulate the garment by adjusting it around the body to check the fit of the garment. On the 1st fit, I found out that the bodice was slightly loose. So, I reduced the waist size sinching it in.  This is the final outcome of the 1st Variation:  Front  Back Final 2D pattern 2nd Variation:  For my 2nd Variation, I decided to do a short, ruffled sleeves with a dip V-neck front and back bodice paired with a pencil skirt. As for the patter, I adjusted the front bodice neckline to a V-neck (same with the back) and used rectangle strips for the ruffled strips.
