ASSIGNMENT 2 : DIGITIZATION OF MANUAL PATTERNS
For this assignment, we were asked to digitize our manual pattern for one of our final 3 garments. This is the pattern that I had planned to use to digitize for this assignment.
I had started to draft the toile for my Look 1 assignment 2.
With a seam allowance of 1.5cm, I cut up the patterns onto a piece of calico and sewed the top of the garment.
Adjustments:
The sleeve of the top had some gathers at the shoulders. So, I had adjusted to pattern for my final look by increasing the arm hole length> Besides that, I also lengthen the top.
I then moved on with the toile for my pants in look 1.
Adjustments needed to be made:
- adjust the pants side pocket to make it bigger
- construct the cargo pockets in a single piece of fabric instead of having 2 separate panels
- make the curve of the net panel wider and add regular net at the bottom of the black net as a base.
I then scanned the fixed mesurements onto the Lectra Modaris and digitalized the patterns.
After scanning the patterns, I edited the curves, fixed the patterns, added seam allowances and grain line to finalise the digital pattern.
FINAL OUTCOME:
I was advised to remove the cargo pockets on the final design by Mr.JR due to it not fitting the look.
REFLECTION :
The process was really challenging but I had fun throughout this assignment. Dr. Alshaima had helped me a lot especially fixing the pattern for my pants which is in the final blogs process. I hope that I can apply this knowledge in my future designs.
